The garage is unfortunately often neglected in a property’s security concept. Very frequently, garage doors can be easily forced open by burglars – or they are not properly locked out of convenience when homeowners leave the property. Garage owners should, in our view, make sure that up-and-over doors are secured with a bar locking system – a product that can also be retrofitted very easily. Solidly mounted steel bars provide additional horizontal locking of the garage door. A garage door bar lock can be locked from both the inside and the outside. Another common security weak point is often the garage door lock itself, which can frequently be unscrewed quite easily. We strongly recommend also installing the profile cylinder in such a way that it is protected against being sawn off.
