Neuberghausen in the Munich Borough of Bogenhausen

In the middle of the 15th century, opposite Bogenhausen’s church square, there was a residential and commercial building that transformed over a period of about 200 years into a stately estate. This estate stood where Maria-Theresia-Strasse 35 is located today.

In the 17th century, the property was called “Hofstatt auf dem Perg zu Pogenhausen” and could already be fondly referred to as a “little castle” at that time.

In the 18th century, the castle was eventually resold multiple times. On June 3, 1740, it finally fell into the hands of Caspar Gregor von Lachenmayr, a court chamber councilor and secret paymaster. Only a month later, the “little castle” was elevated to a noble seat by Elector Karl Albrecht: with the new name “Neuberghaußen”. Castle Neuberghausen, the second noble seat after Castle Steppberg, was born.

When August Joseph Graf von Törring-Jettenbach acquired “Castle Neuberghausen” in 1760, he immediately had the castle remodeled. The prevailing architectural style: Rococo.

In 1818, Neuberghausen along with the castle was finally elevated to a municipality. The settlement of Neuberghausen has belonged to the city of Munich since 1892.
