The district is located in the city of Munich. Karl-Preis-Platz is located at the intersection of Rosenheimer Straße and Claudius-Keller-Straße / Melusinenstraße. Since 1980, the Munich U-Bahn line U2 has stopped here underground, and since 2011 the reinforcement line U7 has also operated during peak hours. Above ground, the square is served by several MVG bus lines. The tram line that once ran here has been discontinued. The square is named after the city councillor and head of Munich’s housing and settlement department Karl Sebastian Price (1884–1946), who made significant contributions to residential construction and was also the initiator of the housing association GEWOFAG (Gemeinnützige Wohnungsfürsorge AG). Previously, the square was called Melusinenplatz. On the northern side of the square stands the sculpture “Der Blockwalzer”. The work by sculptor Fritz Koelle (1895–1953) was first installed there in 1930, but removed and melted down in 1933. In 1976, a replica of the artwork was placed at the same location.
